New Mac Pros and Xserve – The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)

So, Steve is going to announce a new “Mac” line at Macworld. That’s what I get from this. Especially since the base price went from $2399 to $2799. That’s a pretty big gap from the starting price of the iMac at $1199. I think they’re trying to create a hole big enough for a consumer tower Mac and cement the Mac Pro as a true professional rig.  (Why no Blu-ray drives in the Mac Pro, though?)

Although I’m thrilled with the upgraded specs with the Mac Pro, I’m going to wait until Tuesday’s keynote before placing my order just to see what the new offering will look like and what the specs will be.

We’ve been saying that they needed a “Mac” line for how long? Finally, they’ve come to their senses..
